We are loving these new Tagua Nut pendants & the story of their origin is very inspirational...
The Tagua Nut comes from a tree of the same name that is found deep in the Amazon rain forest (also called the 'ivory palm'). It produces a fruit with a large hard 'ivory' like seed from which these gorgeous pendants have been made. The nut has been used to make buttons, jewellery & carved objects since the 19th Century and supports the employment of thousands of indigenous people as well as helping the elephant populations by providing an alternative to ivory.
Each dyed pendant is unique with natural imperfections (including splits and fissures) making them unsual and hauntingly beautiful natural pendants.
